2009 Ford Territory- sell my car

    $1750

2009 ford Territory- sell my car

Condition report – The car has no sunroof, no leather and no sat nav. There’re also a few dents around the tailgate. It needs a full detail inside and out.

Odometer reads – 269,000kms, engine size 6, automatic transmission, seats 7, doors 4, RWD, petrol engine.

It was bought in Melbourne Vic 3131

paid cash for the car, $1,750.

It may be hard to spot the differences between the 2009 Ford Territory range and its predecessors. One factor that the company notes is the modifications made to the powertrain that have improved the consumption ratings by 0.6Litres/100km. This may not seem like much but Territory drivers tend to put in the hard miles and it does add up. 2009 also meant some shifts and changes to the model lineups and the options now include 4.0 litre, 6-cylinder engines with 4-speed automatics or 6-speed auto ZF gearbox. The engines make 190kw and and 383 Nm unless you’ve got a turbocharged engine which makes 245kw and 480 Nm. One of the most notable features in this range is the lack of a diesel option or manual transmission.

Other noticeable improvements, or at least changes, in the 2009 Ford Territory range is the new front bumper, bonnet, grilles, fog lamp and headlamps. There is also a new exterior package available that provides the option for new door handle colours, belt moulding, and body colour bumpers and door cladding. The interiors all come with new finishes and highlights and the option for either the TS or the Ghia interior theme.

While costs have generally increased throughout the range (by $500-$1000 on all variants), new additions such as 18-inch alloys, privacy glass, body colour packages, Alpine DVD system, side-steps, leather wrapped steering wheels and more add over $3,000 in value if not more. Used prices vary greatly and depend on how many kilometres are on the odometer, extra features and specifications, as well as the overall condition of the engine, the body, and the interior furnishings. Take a quick look at the range of powertrains, engines, and transmissions and how used prices differ within private sales. Keep in mind that most will sell for lower than asking price and these factor in relatively low mileage, and very good condition.

-Ghia: This comes as a 4×4 with a 4.0L, ULP engine with 6-speed automatic transmission. Prices start around $8,000 AUD.

It also comes as a Rear-Wheel-Drive with the same engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Prices are slightly higher than the 4×4, starting around $10,000.

-Ghia Turbo: This Territory is a 4×4 with a 4.0L ULP engine and a 6 speed automatic transmission. Private sales start at roughly $14,000.

-SR: The SR comes with a 4.0L, ULP engine as either a 4×4 with a 6-speed auto trans or a RWD with a 4-speed auto trans. Private sales start around $6,000.

-SR2:  THe SR2 comes in the same variations as the SR but prices run slightly higher, starting at $7,000.

-TS: This car has a 4.0L ULP engine with a 6-speed or 4-speed auto trans as either a 4×4 or RWD and prices starts around $6,000.

-TS Limited Edition: This edition is only offered with the 4-speed automatic transmission and the standard engine. It is RAW and starts around $12,000.

-Turbo: This variant has the standard engine and only comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission starting at $10,000.

-TX: Like the variants above, options are for 4×4/RWD and 6 or 4 speed auto transmission. Sales starts at $6,000.

Overall the Ford Territory drives somewhere between a rough off-roader and an urban family car so it seems to fulfill the needs of many drivers. Perhaps it is not mechanically any different then the previous versions but some manufacturers believe in consistency within a model that works. With greater changes in the 2010 range, there are likely to be many 2009 Ford Territory models changing hands and finding new homes.

2012 Holden Captiva – sell my car

    $8000

2012 Holden Captiva – sell my car
Condition report – The car has no leather or sat Nav. It needs new tyres and a full detail inside and out, a few scratches across the bumper. It’s due for a service.
Odometer reads – 120243 kms, engine size 4, automatic transmission, seats 7, doors 5, FWD, Diesel engine.
It was bought in Melbourne , VIC 3677
Paid $8,000 cash for the car

The current range of private, online sales for the 2012 Holden Captiva starts at roughly $6,000 and goes up to $19,000 depending on kilometres driven, fuel and transmission type, servicing history, number of owners and general wear and tear on the body and interior.

The Captiva was Holden’s entry into family-sized SUV vehicles. As opposed to its previous European imports and Australian made vehicles, the Captiva was built in Korea. Even so, there tend to be Holden dealerships throughout the country that have access to necessary replacement parts, so servicing shouldn’t be a big issue.

As was the case with other SUVs in the same market, the 2012 Captiva version was a move away from serious off-roading gear towards a city-safe, family-friendly car. This move was reflected in the Front-wheel-drive options as opposed to all-wheel-drive, which in turn led to a better fuel economy, also a plus for families on a budget.

With the exception of the sporty Maxx option, all Captiva versions can be fitted with a third row of seats, ideal for families with several children or friends that come along for the ride. If all seats are used, the storage is somewhat limited however. If you’re able to fold down the back seat then you’ll get 1,565 litres of boot space. Throughout the cabin you’ll also find plenty of storage compartments including two centre consoles, several drink holders, seat back storage, a floor compartment and even a glove box cooler!

Diesel options include either 2.0 or 2.2 litre, both turbo diesel, and a 3.0 litre V6. There are 2.4 and 3.6 litre V6 petrol engines as well. The 2.2 litre diesel option is the most economical of the lot.

If you’re buying or selling a Captiva then you’ll need to be aware of the common problems that occur with the used models as this will affect the price you’re able to get.:

Cam-timing belts on diesel engines need to be replaced every 90,000 kms so its important to have a record of the service history. The V6 timing chains can also stretch out and are much more expensive to replace, so be weary of an unusually noisy test drive.

If tyres are worn in an asymmetrical pattern, it may mean that the wheel alignment is off, which is somewhat difficult to align properly in the Captiva.

There have been a few other reports of miscellaneous problems such as fuel hose leaks, exhaust oxygen sensor failure, and issues with braking. If in doubt, get a mechanic to check things out.

We love cars as much as we love driving! Check out our tips for driving in Mildura:

If you’re used to driving in Victorian cities, then driving in Mildura won’t be difficult at all, especially when it comes to the local speed limit. As with most cities, Mildura limits are usually 50km/hr in residential areas and 100 to 110km/hr on the surrounding highways. That said, the limits can vary and it’s important to note the signage on any road your are driving. The Mildura Rural City Council urged driver’s at the beginning of the year to remember that while school is in session, the school zone speed limits are applicable and are necessary to keeps kids safe. In general, speeds near schools are reduce from 8-9:00am and 2:30-4:30pm weekdays. The reduced speed limit is usually 40km/hr but read signs carefully.

If you’re coming or going from Mildura, or cruising around town and you notice an issue in the road, its important for the safety of others that you report it. This might be a large pothole, a fallen sign, or even line markings that have faded past the point of recognition. Vicroads has a special page made especially for reporting roadway issues, so head over there to provide your feedback and improve conditions for your fellow drivers.

On a more pleasurable note, Mildura is a beautiful place to set as a destination, or a stopover on a beautiful scenic drive along the Murray River. The town is set just at the banks of the Murray where you can park your car and picnic near the water, watching the houseboats float by. Mildura is also within a short drive to several beautiful country wineries, and has its own set of lovely restaurants and bars. If you’re taking on a longer Murray river drive, be sure to stop in at Mildura along the route and enjoy the regional, North-west Victoria charm.
