The spread of used 2012 Toyota Hilux cars for private sale ranges from roughly as low as $9,500 for a two-door, Ute tray Workmate, 2.7 Litre ULP engine with a 5-speed manual transmission, up to $45,000 for the SR5 4×4 with a 3.0L Diesel engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The 2012 Hilux range had a slight revamp, setting it apart from previous models. These Toyotas have new fenders, bumpers, grilles, bonnets, and even headlamps. Some variations gained newly styled wheels and the whole range now has anti-skid brakes. All variants now have either a standard inclusion of cruise control, or a limited slip-differential if its a 4×4 Workmate. Stability control and side and curtain airbags were also added to several versions, as well as a new and improved audio system and climate control feature.
With so many options for body kits, engines, and transmissions, there are nearly 40 different standard variations of the 2012 Toyota Hilux that you may be selling. The body kits include:
-The 4×2 Single Cab (in Manual or Auto, either workmate or SR variations with Cab Chassis or pick-up option, and Turbo Diesel or V6 engine). The Workmate CC TD Manual is a new variant for the 2012 range.
-The 4×2 Xtra Cab (in Auto or Manual with option for TD or V6 engines). The SR TD Manual is a new variant in the 2012 range.
-The 4×2 Double Cab (Options for Workmate/SR/SR5 with manual or auto with L4, TD or V6 engine). The SR5 V6 manual was discontinued in the 2012 range.
-The 4×4 Single Cab (In Auto or Manual as either Workmate or SR, both with Cab Chassis, option for V6 or TD engine). The Workmate CC TD Auto and Manual are both new variants in the 2012 range. The SR CC V6 auto and manual were both discontinued in this year.
-The 4×4 Xtra Cab (All manual with either SR, SR CC, or SR5 with option for TD or V6 engines). The SR5 V6 manual was discontinued, and the SR TD manual is a new variant added in the 2012 range.
– The 4×4 Double Cab (In manual or auto as Workmate/SR/SR5, with TD or V6 engines). The Workmate TD manual and auto are both new additions to the 2012 Toyota Hilux Range.
Much of the range saw either new additions, or price decreases from as little as a $400 cut in the 4×4 double cab SR V6s, to a $5,650 cut in the 4×4 Xtra Cab SR5 TD manual. The greatest price increase was $900 in the 4×2 Single Cab SR CC V6 manual and auto, and $800 in the 4×2 double cab SR V6 manual and auto. Keep in mind that these price changes reflect new vehicles and that sales of used Toyota Hiluxs will vary greatly depending on the odometer, service history, and condition of the car at the time of sale.

Odometer reading shows – 208220 kms, engine 4, Automatic transmission, seats 7, doors 5, 4X4, diesel engine.

The 2010 Toyota Landcruiser Prado marks a point of distinction in the Prado range as it was the first major update after seven years. The body is longer and slightly lower to add to agility and handling, without sacrificing on luxury. There are 5 and 7-seater options, a new 3-door option, and and a sliding second row. New cars in the range have a $4,000 price increase for entry level cars meaning the lowest new car available is $55,990 and the top of line Kakadu TD comes out at $88,990.
Most buyers of the Toyota Landcruiser opt for the Turbodiesel engine, but the petrol actually tends to handle the slightly heavier update a bit more gracefully. The Landcruiser wasn’t designed so much for passing other cars on the highway, but more for navigating over rocky, rough terrain and taking passengers to new places off the beaten track. There is no specific variant that is objectively the best as it all depends on what kind of driver you are and what you intend for your adventures.
Take a look at the range of options in the 2010 range:
–GX: This comes in either a 4×4 with a 3.0L Diesel engine and a 5-speed sequential automatic, or a 3.0L diesel with a 6-speed manual transmission. Used prices start at around $23,000 for private sales and go up to $35,000.
-GXL: This comes in 5-speed sequential automatic or 6-speed manual transmission with option for 4.0L ULP or 3.0L Diesel engine. Private sales for used Prado GXLs start around $20,000 and go up to roughly $43,000 AUD.
-Kakadu: This 4×4 comes only with a 5-speed sequential automatic transmission with either a ULP or Diesel engine. The used private sales start at $29,000 and go up to almost $50,000.
-SX: This 4×4 comes only with a 5-speed sequential automatic transmission and a 3.0L diesel engine. Used cars start in the low $30,000s and get up to $35,000 AUD.
-VX: This comes only in 5-speed sequential automatic in either 4.0L ULP or 3.0L Diesel engine. This variation goes for $28-45,000 used in private sales.
-ZR:This comes only as a 5-speed sequential automatic with a 3.0L diesel engine and goes for between $25,00-$31,000 AUD.
When buying or selling a Toyota Landcruiser it’s important to keep in mind that used prices vary greatly depending on odometer readings, extra features and general condition of the body and interior.
Condition report – The car has no sunroof, no leather and no sat nav. There’re also a few dents around the tailgate. It needs a full detail inside and out.

It may be hard to spot the differences between the 2009 Ford Territory range and its predecessors. One factor that the company notes is the modifications made to the powertrain that have improved the consumption ratings by 0.6Litres/100km. This may not seem like much but Territory drivers tend to put in the hard miles and it does add up. 2009 also meant some shifts and changes to the model lineups and the options now include 4.0 litre, 6-cylinder engines with 4-speed automatics or 6-speed auto ZF gearbox. The engines make 190kw and and 383 Nm unless you’ve got a turbocharged engine which makes 245kw and 480 Nm. One of the most notable features in this range is the lack of a diesel option or manual transmission.
Other noticeable improvements, or at least changes, in the 2009 Ford Territory range is the new front bumper, bonnet, grilles, fog lamp and headlamps. There is also a new exterior package available that provides the option for new door handle colours, belt moulding, and body colour bumpers and door cladding. The interiors all come with new finishes and highlights and the option for either the TS or the Ghia interior theme.
While costs have generally increased throughout the range (by $500-$1000 on all variants), new additions such as 18-inch alloys, privacy glass, body colour packages, Alpine DVD system, side-steps, leather wrapped steering wheels and more add over $3,000 in value if not more. Used prices vary greatly and depend on how many kilometres are on the odometer, extra features and specifications, as well as the overall condition of the engine, the body, and the interior furnishings. Take a quick look at the range of powertrains, engines, and transmissions and how used prices differ within private sales. Keep in mind that most will sell for lower than asking price and these factor in relatively low mileage, and very good condition.
-Ghia: This comes as a 4×4 with a 4.0L, ULP engine with 6-speed automatic transmission. Prices start around $8,000 AUD.
It also comes as a Rear-Wheel-Drive with the same engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Prices are slightly higher than the 4×4, starting around $10,000.
-Ghia Turbo: This Territory is a 4×4 with a 4.0L ULP engine and a 6 speed automatic transmission. Private sales start at roughly $14,000.
-SR: The SR comes with a 4.0L, ULP engine as either a 4×4 with a 6-speed auto trans or a RWD with a 4-speed auto trans. Private sales start around $6,000.
-SR2: THe SR2 comes in the same variations as the SR but prices run slightly higher, starting at $7,000.
-TS: This car has a 4.0L ULP engine with a 6-speed or 4-speed auto trans as either a 4×4 or RWD and prices starts around $6,000.
-TS Limited Edition: This edition is only offered with the 4-speed automatic transmission and the standard engine. It is RAW and starts around $12,000.
-Turbo: This variant has the standard engine and only comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission starting at $10,000.
-TX: Like the variants above, options are for 4×4/RWD and 6 or 4 speed auto transmission. Sales starts at $6,000.
Overall the Ford Territory drives somewhere between a rough off-roader and an urban family car so it seems to fulfill the needs of many drivers. Perhaps it is not mechanically any different then the previous versions but some manufacturers believe in consistency within a model that works. With greater changes in the 2010 range, there are likely to be many 2009 Ford Territory models changing hands and finding new homes.
