New Year, New Car!

Our lineup of the best new car releases in Australia for 2015

Forget eating right and being smarter with your finances; the only New Year’s resolution you should be thinking about is which new car you want to adorn your lucky garage with! OK, even if you’re not in the position to invest in a 2015 vehicle this year, you can still enjoy our pick of the best new releases that will be hitting Australian shores this year. There are some real beauties, too!

So here are the cars we’re most excited about in 2015 based on what information has been released to the public so far, with a pick of the month all the way up until November.

January – Ford Mondeo

Ford is kicking the year off with a bang with their brand-spanking-new Mondeo. This is one of several exciting new numbers that they’re adding to their line-up, and will hopefully shake up the game a little bit.

With the sedan game falling a bit flat lately in Australia, will this new medium-large vehicle take a bit of market share away from the popular hatchbacks and SUVs? Ford must be hoping so!

February – Volvo XC90

February is a busy month for new car releases so it was hard to pick a favourite, but the Volvo XC90 earned its rightful spot. This is probably one of the most anticipated cars of 2015, and we’re happy we don’t have long to wait!

It’s more than a decade since Volvo’s last XC90, and they’re promising it was worth the wait with a seven-seater SUV that is safer, more technologically advanced, more luxurious, and more economical on fuel than perhaps anything else the Swedish manufacturer has ever made.

March – Mercedes-Benz S-Class

It’s set to be a big year for Mercedes-Benz; they’re already announced the releases of 8 new vehicles. One of these exciting additions includes the new model of S-Class, a sexy two door coupe that will surely have heads turning.

It’s got all the mod cons that scream 2015, like autonomous braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and high beams, and more. Plus, it includes some pretty impressive technology that makes the car lean into corners like a motorcycle or skier; a feature that has been trialled before by other manufacturers but never made it to be production.

April – Alfa Romeo Giulia

Alfa Romeo is another car manufacturer that is going to be busy in 2015, particularly with the highly anticipated release of their Giulia model in April. This will be the first sedan that the manufacturer has brought out since Fiat-Chrysler Automobile CEO Sergio Marchionne took over the reins of Alfa Romeo, and there’s a lot of expectation.

May – Kia Sorento

Kia is set to continue to impress SUV-lovers in Australia with their new 2015 model Sorento, expected to be available in May. Building on its predecessor’s popularity, they’ve somehow managed to make this one look and drive better, while also promising more space and better soundproofing.

Expect the 2015 Kia Sorento to make massive waves this year!

June – Hyundai i20

June is another reasonably popular time for manufacturers to bring out some new toys, and our favourite pick for the mid-year month is the new model of the hugely popular Hyundai i20. The i20 has proved to be unstoppable in the hatch game, and Hyundai are hoping to improve their market share even more with this lower, meaner, and roomier model.

July – Subaru Levorg

To warm our winters, Subaru will be busting out their all-new Levorg. This is basically a performance-driven wagon, with all the grunt and style of a WRX but with oodles more practicality. Family car? Meet sports car. I think you two will get along just fine!

August – Infiniti LE

If 2015 is your year to be more environmentally conscience, you might want to hold out for the Infiniti LE being launched in August. This electric vehicle is super friendly to Mother Nature with zero emissions technology, plus it looks incredible.

While it hits a bit of a niche luxury market, we feel like the Infiniti LE might heat up August in Australia.

September – Jeep Renegade

The mid-sized SUV game is full of some steep competition, but that hasn’t deterred Jeep from jumping headfirst in with their own offering; the Renegade. This spiffy little unit should be hitting Australian shores in September, and its arrival has been long anticipated.

October – Ford Mustang

Here’s one to get you salivating; Ford’s sleek and powerful 2015 Mustang. It’s all treat and no trick in time for October, and boasts some serious superb specs. It’s had plenty of interest from Aussies since early days, with more than 15,000 customers asking for details back when it was still in rumour days, according to Ford Australia President & CEO Bob Graziano.

November – Mazda CX-3

What better way to round off a great year than with a new addition to the successful Mazda family? With the CX-5 SUV and hatchback 2 both selling like hotcakes, the CX-3 will be a perfect blend between the two.

So if this mini-SUV is the best of both worlds, it should be a top seller, right? Time will tell, but we’re betting that the Mazda CX-3 will be a big one for 2015.
